Know that how you go about searching for leads usually depends on the industry in which you work. For example, large insurance companies and banks do a lot of snail mail (junk mail). I usually recommend testing a lot of marketing lead generation ideas. You evaluate the lead generating tactic by figuring out how much it costs you to get one new lead, while using a particular technique.

The best lead getting ideas are the ones that cost you the least per lead. So how much did that radio ad cost and how many leads did you get?

How many of those leads actually bought something from you or hired you? Next, do the math and figure out how much it costs you to get one lead via a radio ad. Does it cost you more per lead if you take an ad in the news paper? How about a pay per click ad on Google Search?

Well of course you know I am going to advice you to put more money into the lead gen method that gets you the most leads for your money. The questions though are, how well designed was that poor performing radio ad? Was it aired on a good radio station...for selling your product?

What if you added a celebrity to the commercial? Would making the radio ad funnier get better results?

So you see evaluating and testing your lead generation activities is not always about the math. Being extra creative can get you leads...on any marketing platform!
